Celebrating diversity, building an inclusive community

Many Cultures, One Community! This is the simple but profound message being promoted in Weston-super-Mare, across North Somerset and other regions in a campaign to promote inclusivity in our community.

The “Many Cultures, One Community” campaign, which is a RENS initiative being supported by many other organisations and stakeholders, aims to promote diversity and unity not just in North Somerset, but wherever the message is seen or heard. It serves to acknowledge the rich diversity of cultures that make up our world, our country and our local communities. These are cultures that we can all experience through a variety of forms including the arts, music, food, religion, education and business and which all contribute to the vitality and diversity in the life of our community.

In addition to raising awareness, the “Many Cultures, One Community” campaign aims to encourage individuals, schools, businesses, and statutory and community organisations to foster meaningful conversations and actions that will help combat racism and discrimination of all kinds. With a combination of online and offline activities – including social media, public events, educational materials and the distribution of impactful stickers, posters and badges, the campaign will support the whole community to take a stand against racism and embrace the shared humanity that connects us all.

“Many Cultures, One Community” is about community engagement and community pride. It highlights the importance of inclusivity, respect, and understanding towards everyone in our community, encouraging us all to work towards building a future where diversity is celebrated, where everyone feels a sense of belonging, and where unity and equality thrive.
